I’m s.a.d

Stephanie A. Disen, LCSW

My work is with people who are already doing the work, who know something is unresolved and aren’t looking to explain it away or stay comfortable inside it. They’re not in crisis. They’re ready to be seen differently.

My focus is not on accelerating change, but on restoring clarity when pace and pressure make it difficult to hear what actually matters.

I work through storytelling facilitation and individual psychotherapy. Change, in both, depends on the same two conditions: structure that creates steadiness and openness that allows something real to surface. That combination supports people in stepping out of internal constraints, regaining perspective, and re-entering their lives with greater agency and ease. When those conditions are in place, insight becomes usable and forward movement becomes deliberate. Not catharsis, but clarity that holds up over time.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master of Social Work from Columbia University. I provide telehealth psychotherapy in New York and live in Austin, Texas, moving between Austin and New York City throughout the year.
